ITMB degree

Latest figures from e-skills UK show that 100% of Information Technology Management for Business (ITMB) students find employment, or go on to further study, within 6 months of graduation.

The data reveals ITMB graduates securing jobs with top companies such as IBM, HP, Apple and Google within 6 months of graduation, with 15% going on to further study.

The ITMB degree was created by e-skills UK in collaboration with over 60 employers. It is specifically designed to develop graduates who have the variety of technical, business and interpersonal skills that organisations need to compete in today’s global market. Through the Employer Investment Fund, the UK Commission for Employment and Skills has provided funding which enables the ITMB degree programme to build on its success to date.

Jordan Wallace, a first year ITMB student at the University of Manchester, said;

The ITMB course places its graduates head and shoulders above others in an increasingly competitive job market.

“ITMB provides an excellent opportunity to gain an essential insight into the world of IT, develop technical and leadership qualities and gives an unparalleled exposure to leading businesses. “

Nicola Luke, Graduate Development Manager, HP, said:

“The ITMB degree allows the graduate to showcase the IT qualification but also their soft skills that are very much needed in the work place from day one, so it sets them on the best footing and they can hit the ground running for us.

The main thing is it’s tailored to our industry specifically. It gives the students the opportunity to excel in both their IT skills and in their business related skills, so it’s a real mix of both sets of criteria that we look for in future employees.”

Course figures also show an average increase of 24% in the number of applications to ITMB over the last four years.

“Young people considering a university degree are becoming increasingly discerning about what and where they study.” said Dr Zena Wood, ITMB Course Director at the University of Exeter.

“As a graduate, finding the right job is proving ever more difficult. ITMB graduates are standing out from the crowd thanks to the unique mix of business and technical skills they gain. Not only that, but the course provides unparalleled opportunities to meet, network, and gain valuable work experience with prospective employers.”
