Update from the National Audit Office - May 2009
The National Audit Office has completed its analysis of SSCs in tranche three and four. Tranche three draft reports were sent out to each of the Councils to ensure factual accuracy at the end of April. Once agreed, final reports were submitted to the UK Commission in readiness for the Commissioner visit, followed by the Relicensing Panel which takes place the 19 May. Tranche four draft reports will be sent to each of the SSCs at the end of May. - The NAO has completed their analysis of tranche one SSCs (Skillset, Cogent, People 1st, Semta and FSSC). Draft reports were sent out to the SSCs for consideration to ensure consistency in approach and judgement. The Sector Skills Councils can comment on any factual inaccuracies in the reports or provide additional evidence before they submit them to the UK Commission.

Commissioner Visit to SSC and SSC Relicensing Panel
The UK Commission is led by Commissioners drawn from the highest levels of the private, public and voluntary sectors. Through the SSC Committee, they provide leadership, advice and support to UKCES officials on developing and implementing the approach to the relicensing programme, including; playing an active role in the development of the relicensing framework and Prospectus, conducting visits to the SSCs and sitting on the SSC Relicensing Panel which ultimately gives advice to government as to whether an SSC should be relicensed. - 30th Jul 2009

Throughout the relicensing process, the UK Commission has made a conscious effort to ensure its communications are tailored to employer, partner and stakeholder needs. Here is a look back at what we've done and a look forward as to what you can expect. - Four Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) have been relicensed, Business, Innovation and Skills Secretary Lord Mandelson announced today, on behalf of the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations. Sector Skills Councils are employer-led bodies, established to enable employers to exert influence on the UK's education and skills systems to ensure they meet their needs.
- England's complex patchwork of employment and skills services services urgently needs to be simplified to produce an integrated system which is more responsive to the needs of employers, Chris Humphries, Chief Executive of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills warned today.

New resource launched to end confusion over where to find talent, skills and education training
The latest initiative to develop and improve the skills of the nation's workforce is now available to employer organisations across the UK. The innovative framework and online tool called talentmap, has made the previously confusing task of how and where to get skills advice much more streamlined and easily accessible.
