The Cogent Technical Apprenticeship Service (TAS) has successfully secured funding from the UKCES (UK Commission for Employment and Skills) through the Employer Investment Fund to attract more females into science-based Apprenticeships. The programme aims to enhance female students’ awareness and understanding of Apprenticeship training and potential careers in the science-based industries.

Following a hugely successful pilot, e-skills UK announced earlier this summer that the 'Behind the Screen' programme will be available to all schools from September 2012. It offers a series of projects, presented as interactive online materials, and supported by full teachers' notes. The projects are developed in close consultation with employers, and are based on real life business issues.
