People 1st: Accelerating social mobility in the workplace
Hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism is one of the few UK sectors predicted to grow significantly in the coming decade. People 1st have identified four key projects essential to this growth.
The sector is also facing a management skills shortage and the demographics of the sector could be attributed as a reason for this with a strong inequality in gender and age balance.
The proposal identifies four key activities: attracting and developing women into non traditional roles; advancing women into leadership ranks through a strong network of support; establishing entry routes for managers, and; developing clear and transparent pathways in passenger transport to enable employees to recognise the progression opportunities within passenger transport.
