Skills for Logistics: Local Logistics
With ‘Local Logistics’, Skills for Logistics will create Local Logistics Community Networks (LLCNs) where clusters of employers will take action to activate local talent pools, attracting new and able job-seekers into the sector.
Return on Investment
- 80 employers, grouped in 4 pilot hotspots across the UK, actively engaging with the local community and able to attract a younger (up 1.5%), more diverse (BAME up 1.5%, women up 5%) and motivated workforce.
- 100 employers, working with 150 schools to promote the sector to the next generation of employees and improve the sector’s image, leading to an expected 11% increase in the percentage of children considering a career in logistics by 2017.
- 200 individuals given work experience and pre-employment training.
- 100 employees increasing their experience and receiving support from 40 trained mentors.
It is expected that these initiatives will contribute to as much as a 19% improvement in the numbers of logistics employers investing in skills by 2017.
