New careers website a “game changer” for passenger transport and travel employers
18 Apr 2013
People 1st has launched a brand new website to promote the fantastic career opportunities available in passenger transport and travel.
Developed in association with the award-winning website UKSP, Careers that Move is breaking new ground for the industries with its online career tools and guides for employers, training providers and job seekers. By showcasing passenger transport and travel careers in one place, Careers that Move has been able to represent the roles that form the ‘passenger experience’, from travel agents and tour operators to bus drivers and airline pilots.
The initial phase of the website features an interactive Career Map, which shows the wide range of roles and career paths in the sector, with each linking through to a detailed job description and relevant training courses. Additional features will be released over the coming weeks, including a ‘Good Employer’ listing for businesses that are committed to training and developing their staff. Project manager for UKSP, Jo Parker, said that employers from across the passenger transport and travel sector had been involved in developing the website to make sure it meets their needs.
“We really wanted to create a site that appeals to both young people and adults, but also wanted to make sure that employers had a strong say in the information on the website. We worked with employers from across the different industries to make sure we got their feedback during the site’s development.”
People 1st has also been working closely with employers to make sure the website that the meets the needs of the passenger transport and travel industries for recruitment and training.
“We have brought across some of UKSP’s popular tools to make sure that Careers that Move has the right mix of fun and informative features for job seekers,” Jo explained. One of the employers involved in the development, Dave Rogers, head of training services for cargo and ground handling at Servisair, is enthusiastic about the website placing the spotlight on careers in passenger transport.
“Careers that Move is a game changer for our industry, as we now have a place to showcase passenger transport careers in a way that appeals to a whole new audience,” Dave said. “I can really see how employers can benefit if they get involved, especially by registering as a Good Employer on the site and promoting vacancies within their organisations.”
As Careers that Move continues to build momentum and more features become available, businesses can stay up to date by following the website’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, or by visiting www.careersthatmove.co.uk
