e-skills UK: Informed Choices

e-skills UK will use this investment to inspire young people to pursue IT-related education and careers in the high growth IT sector
This investment will:
- Provide an inspiring insight into IT careers and progression through Apprenticeships and Higher Education with national careers awareness programmes
- Grow direct employer interaction with students, teachers and careers advisors
- Create a stimulating new curriculum (in England Wales and NI) which will increase the likelihood of 14-16 year olds pursuing IT
e-skills UK will also explore mechanisms for sustainability
Return on Investment
- 100,000 students benefit from the project work
- 60,000 14-19 year olds are more likely to pursue IT-related education or careers
- Employers and universities report improved capability and a stronger pipeline into IT as a result of a new IT curriculum
- More young people are securing higher value employment, with GVA increased by £32,000 a year for every person entering IT rather than average employment
