Active Professionals
SkillsActive is establishing professional registration across specific sub-sectors and occupations to help employers to further professionalise their businesses.
Employers in this sector are looking to SkillsActive to help to further professionalise their businesses through the Active Professionals programme, which will establish professional registration across specific sub-sectors, aquatics, golf, physical activity providers, playwork, outdoors and performance lifestyle coaching.
The project aims to establish career pathways to retain talented individuals in the sector and provide them with clear progression routes. It supports a sector, dominated by SMEs, to build its capability in support of predicted employment growth.
Skills Active is targeting 130,000 new entrants to registers by the end of 2018, of which at least 49,000 will have achieved level 3 qualifications as a direct result of the Active Professionals programme.

- Increased investment in skills by employers, particularly SMEs
- Improved retention of talented individuals within the sector
- An increase in the supply of job applicants with industry accepted qualifications
- Support for the sector to build its capability in support of predicted employment growth
- To help 85,000 additional people into training by 2014
- An increase in growth and performance from £13,816 GVA per person to £15,500 GVA per person in 2018
