UKCES strengthened by new commissioner appointments

The Business Secretary, Vince Cable, today announced the appointment of five new Commissioners at the UK Commission for Employment and Skills.
They are:

Will Butler-Adams, Managing Director, Brompton Bicycle Ltd

Fiona Kendrick, Chairman and Chief Executive, Nestlé UK & Ireland

Douglas McCormick, Managing Director, UK Rail Business, Atkins

Barbara Spicer, Chief Executive, Salford City Council

Iqbal Wahhab, Founder, Roast Restaurant
They join a team of 25 Commissioners, led by Sir Charlie Mayfield, Chairman of the John Lewis Partnership, who said: "I am delighted to welcome Barbara, Douglas, Fiona, Iqbal and Will to the Commission. They bring a huge range of expertise and experience and join us at an important time. The Commission is focused on supporting growth by encouraging businesses to invest in developing the skills and employment opportunities for their people. I very much look forward to working with them."
Skills Minister Matthew Hancock added:
"These five new commissioners are leaders in their fields and have a broad knowledge of a variety of sectors. They will encourage industry to support the skills to build a workforce for the modern economy.
With their experience and expertise they will help large, small and medium sized enterprises respond to our industrial strategies."
Minister for Employment Mark Hoban said:
"It is great to see these five experts joining the Commission. They cover a wide area of experience with their varied backgrounds, and I know they will use this to work closely with employers, advocating new opportunities and skills development in businesses."
The new Commissioners have been appointed for a three-year term.
